Mary McDermitt, 94, of Waco, passed away Thursday, May 14th.
Graveside Services: 1PM Saturday, May16th at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Mary Waller McDermitt, 94, of Waco, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015. A graveside service was held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Rosehill Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Mary was born April 6, 1921, in Ardmore Oklahoma, the daughter of Clifford and Ronda Waller. She graduated from Ardmore High School. She married Norbert C. McDermitt on August 3, 1940. Mary’s Christian Science faith was a sustaining part of her life. She was a wonderful cook. Her sausage gravy and biscuits, fried chicken, peach cobbler, lemon pie, Norwegian tarts and divinity were favorites. She was also an accomplished seamstress making beautiful garments from ball gowns to suits. Mary was a wonderful decorative painter and teacher of this art and it brought her much joy.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert McDermitt.
Mary is survived by her son, Jim McDermitt, and wife Melody, of Waco; her daughter Sylvia McDermitt of Wentzville, Missouri; daughter Ronnie Aaron of Waco; grandchildren, Heather Trimmer of Waco, Norbert Trimmer and wife Kathy of Surfside, Texas, Shannon McDermitt of Waco, Chris Engel and wife Joy of Shawnee, Kansas, Bradley Engel and wife Krisa of London, England, Pam and husband John Henke of Wentzville, Missouri, Greg Engel and wife Jill of St. Charles, Missouri; 7 great grandchildren; cousin Nancy and husband Robert Owen of Ft. Worth, Texas.
Our family would like to express deep gratitude for Providence Hospice staff, particularly Cindy Frasier and Antranette Tatum. In addition, we appreciate the gentle, kind care she received from all of the staff at Wesley Woods.

Mary my Mary I am truly sad to see you go. I pray God continues yo watch over your family. You were always so sweet and appreciative for the littlest things. Always made me feel at home when I was with you. I will truly be miss you and, will never forget one of the best patients I have ever had this past five years of being an aid. If I could say anything else to you it would be. LOVE YOU LOTS MAMA♡♡♡
