Linda was born the third child of 12 children, November 27, 1946 in Vancouver, Washington to the late Willie Eugene and Lula Beatrice Parrish Ballard. As a young girl, her family lived and moved to several different states before settling in the Waco area. It was here in Waco that Linda met the love of her life, Curtis Roy McAdams, at the age of 10 years old. She always stated she always knew he was the one for her; they were married, March 1, 1964. Linda was a long time member of the Bellmead Church of Christ Church. She worked for over 20 years as an Operation Manager at the local Mervyn’s, until it’s closing in 2007.

Linda was a very competitive person; she enjoyed playing BINGO, several different card games, dominos and was not afraid to try her luck on occasion, at the slot machines in Bossier City. Family was always a very important part of Linda’s life; she enjoyed time spent playing games with them and cooking holiday meals brought her great joy. In later years, spending time watching the old westerns and her game shows was how Linda kept that competitive nature going. Linda will long be remembered for her meatballs, chili beans, enchiladas and how she always cooked every dish at Thanksgiving for her family. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Lula Ballard, her siblings, Gail Winkelmann, Becky Cox and Russell Ballard, and her loving husband of over 30 years, Curtis Roy McAdams.

Linda leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy, her children, James McAdams of LeRoy, Duane McAdams and wife, Lisa of Lacy-Lakeview, Dennis McAdams and wife, Ginger of Elm Mott, Brad McAdams of Waco, Angela Bower and husband, Jason of Lacy-Lakeview, Cheryl Booker and husband, Brian of Lacy-Lakeview; siblings, Pat McAdams and husband, Bucky, Benny Ballard and wife, Linda, Mark Ballard, Timmy Ballard and wife, Yvette, Jimmy Ballard and wife, Doris, Jeff Ballard and wife, Sue, Bruce Ballard and wife, Lisa and Nancy Strickland; 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Tony Winkelmann and James Cox; and sister-in-law, Theresa Ballard; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.

Condolence Messages

  1. I love Linda and the family. I’ll never forget the times we all got together. Us kids would
Be running around while the adults would be in another room playing quarters or domino’s or some other game. She had the sweetest smile and gave great hugs. She will be missed. I pray for peace of mind for all the family. She is up in heaven with Curtis having a good ole time.
