Lester Leroy Jewell, 87, of Waco, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 23, 2014 at his residence. At Les’ request, his body will be cremated. A memorial service is pending.

Les was born Nov. 2, 1927 in Wichita, Kansas to Roy and Clara Jewell. He was in the Navy and served his country during World War II. In the late 1970’s he moved to Waco from Joplin, Missouri. He was a long- haul truck driver for most of his life. While living in Waco, he opened up “Jewell Country” where he made many friends from all walks of life who came in daily to drink, play pool and just to chat.

Surviving Les are his four children, Jack Lawson and wife, Linda of Springfield, Missouri, Larry Jewell and wife, Lori of Waco, Connie Jewell of Midland, and Linda Shaw and husband, James of Branch, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Les will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
