Jim Ashley, 83, of Aquilla, passed away Nov 12, 2014. Graveside services will be held Friday, Nov 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Wortham Bend Cemetery with Pastor Jim Dickson officiating.
Jim was born October 10, 1931 to George and Alta Ashley. After graduating from Waco High School he began a career in the United States Air Force. He retired from the military as a Chief Master Sergeant after 21 years of service. Jim was a 32 degree Mason, as well as a retired police officer. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, where he served as a Senior Vice Commander. Jim thoroughly enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a big sports fan and loved to watch his great-granddaughters play basketball and softball.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and son.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nelda; two daughters Karen Gassaway and Dana Alexander; five granddaughters; four great-granddaughters; and two great- grandsons.
