Jack Vernon Ridley, of Waco, and former long-time resident of Duncanville, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.

Service Information: Family and friends will gather for a memorial visitation will be Monday, October 23rd from 9:30AM to 10:00AM at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco, a service celebrating Jack’s life will follow at 10:00AM. Honoring Jack’s wishes he will be cremated.

He was a loving husband, father and “Grandpa Jack”. Jack was born in Tyler, Texas, on November 7, 1940 to Fred and Ruth Ridley. He spent his childhood in Amarillo and Tyler, and graduated from Tyler John Tyler High School. Jack served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and the Naval Reserves. After his service, he attended the University of Texas at Austin, and graduated from University of Texas at Arlington. While living in Duncanville, he was a Deacon at Colonial Hills Baptist Church; a member of the Southwest Dallas County Amateur Radio Club; and served with the Coast Guard Auxiliary at Joe Pool Lake. He was retired from the Internal Revenue Service. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Bettie Ridley.

Jack is survived by wife, Mary Lou Bynon; daughters, Amy Hutchinson, and Alicia Murry and husband, Tab; stepchildren, Ron Taggert and wife, Analisa; and Teresa Klanika and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Olivia Roach, Juanita Hutchinson, Caroline Traylor, Jeremy Root, Dillon Bryant, and Blake Taggert; one great-grandchild, Emily Summers.

In lieu of flowers, you may consider a donation to the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the charity of your choice.

  10. Our thoughts, prayers and sympathies to the Jack Ridley family at his passing.
    We knew Jack, Betty, Amy and Alicia when we were members of Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Cedar Hill together. Jack was my Sunday school teacher and my daughter and Alicia were in the youth together.
    Jack was a fine man, strong Christian and a good friend.
    May the Lord be with you in the days to come and may every remembrance of your husband, father, grandfather,friend bring blessed memories of Jack.
