God bless you brother, I miss you dearly. I know things were tested recently, but you will forever remain in my heart, in a special place filled with love. You touched so many people with your love and kindness to children. In our memorial service, I stated that although you had no natural born children, all of our children were yours too. You shared so much of yourself with them, putting smiles on their faces and love in their hearts.
In addition to this short obituary, it should state:
Gene Lamar Lahr was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond I Lahr and Essie I Lahr Graybill. He was also preceded by a brother, Thomas Lahr. He is survived in Texas by his two adopted children, affectionately known as Bubba and Sissy Lahr. He is also survived by siblings, Fay Nichols of Berrysburg, Pa, Ron Lahr of Harrisburg, Pa, Lester Lahr of Shamokin, Pa, Raymond Lahr Jr. of SLC, Ut, Donna Obert of SLC, Ut, Mark Lahr of Draper Ut, and Cynthia Ingalls of Waterbury, Ct.
Gene loved his country music and driving truck was his passion for over 40 years. Nothing made him smile as much as being behind the wheel of his big rig. I am proud to say and honor his service to our country also as a Veteran of the US Army. In the years before his health had minimized his ability to drive, he was a dedicated son to his Mother and Step-Father, Harold Graybill. They were residing in Waterbury CT and he made it a point to spend time visiting whenever he was in the area. I will always have the memories of him making them smile and laugh at his stories from his travels. He gave Doug and I much needed support in the care of our parents. I will always love him for his sincerity in service to them both before they passed on.
Gene, today may you rest in peace with our Father in Heaven. May your eyes see again and your body no more feel the pain you were experiencing. I will forever love you and all you did for me… all the laughter and joy you shared with Doug and I when you lived with us in our home. Thank you for loving me, brother. I miss you so much. Always have and always will.
