Elijah Joseph Ashbey

Elijah

Elijah Joseph Ashbey, 21 most recently of Austin, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015. Elijah was known for the intense way he embraced life and the 110% he gave to his family and friends. With that same passion, Elijah gave of himself in his death also being an organ donor. There are numerous people and studies that will benefit from his sacrifice.

A Gathering of Family and Friends with Viewing and Reception: 4 to 8PM Saturday, November 21st at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Elijah was born February 25, 1994 in Pomona, California. Spending his younger years in California, his family moved to Hewitt, Texas when he was a teenager. It was stated that Elijah brought the California spirit to the country life. Elijah was a charmer and had a huge sense of humor that would light up a room. When you became his friend he was loyal and could cure any problem with a song he could pick for any situation. His sense of humor, being a jokester and his mischief kept his parents and teachers along the way on their toes, but his infectious smile seemed to keep him out of trouble. Elijah had a passion for import cars and wanted to someday drift cars professionally. He enjoyed playing video games and music was his passion. He was known as the “DJ” of the group and always had a song for everyone.

Family also became a passion of Elijah’s at an early age, when he lost his younger five year old brother. He had recently been blessed with the news that he was to be a daddy himself. He was joyous at the future to make a family of his own.

Elijah was lovingly known to many as “Pony Boy” and was known to don a horse head to just get a laugh out of strangers driving down the road. His infectious joy and spirit will be missed by all those he touched.

Elijah was preceded in death by his baby brother, Austin Figueroa; his paternal grandfather; two sets of paternal great grandparents and his maternal great grandparents.

Elijah leaves behind to cherish his memory parents, Hope and Mark Figueroa and Michael and Emmy Ashbey; his siblings, Everett Ashbey, Cailin Ashbey and Alyna Figueroa; his girlfriend and mother of his baby, Savannah Smock; his unborn child, “Baby Elijah”; his paternal grandmother, Annette Figueroa; his maternal grandfather, Gary Robb; paternal grandmother, Bernadita Ashbey; along with a host of extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Elijah’s family requests memorial donations to be made to https:// www.gofundme.com/2mabn8zy to help Baby Elijah and Savannah.

Condolence Messages

  1. I deeply sorry for your loss. I had Elijah in World Geography when I taught at Midway. He always had a great smile on his face and was a pleasure to have in class. He could always light up a room with his infectious personality. Again, I am sorry for your family’s loss.

  2. May precious memories of your loved one be a source of comfort during this difficult time, we yearn for the time when Jehovah God and his beloved son, Jesus Christ fulfill their promise to end all suffering and death forever – Revelation 21:3, 4; Isaiah 42:8.

  3. Condolences to the Ashbey family. May Jehovah the “God of Comfort” bring you comfort and peace at this difficult time (2 Corinthians 1:3 & 4). Your family are in our prayers.
