Don was born on November 16, 1934 to J.D. and Ruth (Smith) Shillings. In his early years, he loved anything to do with horses. When he married the love of his life, Marjorie “Margie”, he was blessed with a large family that loved him. He and Margie loved to go to auctions and hit every garage sale they could find. They were always looking for a “treasure” to catch their eye and when they found it they would buy it and add to their “Collection”. Their life together was simple but filled with love and many blessings.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Whatley) Shillings; parents; sisters, Billie Ruth Lumpkin and Alyne Thompson; stepdaughters, Patricia Gray, Kay Johnson, and Vivian Williams; stepsons, Robert Johnson, David Baxter Johnson and Thomas Johnson.

Don is survived by his stepdaughters, Nancy Wynn, Ruby Johnson, Mary Gula and husband, James; stepsons, Bill Johnson and Daniel Johnson; sister, Andrea Nightingale and husband, Billy; and brother, Doug Shillings; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Brent Copeland, Josh Olson, Kenny Johnson, Jr., Billy Nightingale, Terry Nightingale and Ken Elliott.

The family would like to thank Providence Hospice Place for the care given to their loved one.
