Charlie R. Lewis, Jr., 80, of Chalk Bluff, passed away Monday, July 27th.

Funeral Services: 10AM Thursday, July 30th at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff.

Visitation: 6 to 8PM Wednesday, July 29th at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco.

Charlie was born on July 24, 1935 in Waco to Charlie and Louise (Schulz) Lewis. He was a 1953 graduate from Waco High School and a 1958 graduate from Texas A & M University and also served in the A & M Corps. He then served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He married Gwendolyn K. Wilson on December 27, 1958. She passed away on January 25, 1971. Charlie worked for Central Texas Iron Works from 1959 to 1983 as facilities manager. He then worked for Hercules from 1985 until its closing. Charlie then did contractor work until his retirement. He married Louise Pollard on May23, 1985. He was a member of Chalk Bluff Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing and routing for the Aggies every weekend. Charlie loved being outdoors and tending to his home. He was a well-respected member of his community. But most of all, he adored his family.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Billie Charlene Porter.

Survivors include wife of 30 years, Louise Lewis; children, Ross Owens Lewis, Bartlett Allan Lewis and wife Donna Renee, Kim Renee Miller and husband Patrick David, Lowery Mitchell Ballard, Jr., and Randall Ballard; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Flossie Olson; and numerous other relatives.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
