Charles “Chuck” Parsons of Waco, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017.

Services:
10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, with Dr. Dane Fowlkes and James Bethany officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Bosqueville Cemetery.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Chuck was born November 5, 1937 in Waco to John Curtis and Vi (nee Ferrell) Parsons. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1955, and a year later earned his high school diploma. His military service began at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, then Walker Air Force Base near Roswell, New Mexico where he met and married the love of his life, Sharon Jefferies, in 1958. Later, they moved to Bergstrom AFB in Austin. In 1965, Chuck transferred to Okinawa, where he flew 100 combat missions to Vietnam as the boom operator in a KC-135 refueling tanker. After 20 years of service, Chuck retired from the Air Force in 1975 to run the family business, Parsons Sand and Gravel, until 2005. He was a proud veteran.

Chuck was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and tending his cows and garden. His greatest loves were his wife, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father John Curtis Parsons, his mother Vi Parsons, and brothers Ed Parsons and Bob Parsons.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon; son, Curtis Parsons and wife, Fran of Austin, daughter Debbie Winton and husband, Jim of Hewitt, son, Gary Parsons and wife, Rachel of Kenner, LA, and son, Robert Parsons of Waco; grandsons, Gregory Parsons, Sean Parsons, and Tyler Parsons of Waco, and Gary Parsons, Jr. of Kenner, LA; granddaughters, Jennifer Parsons of Waco, Ashley Broom and husband, Dustin of Amarillo, Brooke Winton of College Station, and Lauren Parsons of Waco; great-granddaughters, Hallie Cate and Livvy Broom; sister, Judy Parsons-Sickle and husband, Bob of Grand Prairie, brother, John Parsons and Rindy of Pagosa Springs, CO; and brother and sisters-in-laws Vernon and Bev Jefferies, Bill and Evelyn Jefferies, and Linda and Don Buckman of Colorado.

The family would also like to give special thanks to sister-in-law Susie Stubblefield of Streetman for her love and support during this time.

Pallbearers are nephews Donald Stubblefield, Mike Parsons, Mitch Parsons, Jeff Parsons, and grandsons Gregory Parsons and Sean Parsons.

The family requests that any memorials for Chuck be made to the Air Force Aid Society, or to the Bosqueville United Methodist Church.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 10 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco
Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 11 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Bosqueville Cemetery.
